Teach to a philosophy that all visual sequential projects regardless of technique or media, ranging from comics to photography, animation or video, can benefit from a focus on narrative theory and pattern recognition. Shifting creative attention to storytelling and story editing can also help develop and refine workflows as well as make interdisciplinary collaboration easier.
Pick Your Own Path on the Oregon Trail | Back
Developed in collaboration with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt's in-house designers and writers. The responsibilities for this project were two-fold: to design the branching narrative for the story of a trek on the historic Oregon Trail (reflecting the classic computer game), and then to divide the nodes of story information into the book so that the tabs functioned correctly and in an engaging manner. The successful result was achieved through prototyping and the use of an excel spreadsheet.
