ABOUT
I partnered with editors, producers, statisticians, and reporters to translate complex baseball data such as trades, rankings, and historical trends into clear, engaging visual systems.
These graphics were published across MLB.com, social media, and broadcast, requiring designs that could scale across formats while remaining legible and impactful.
In addition to design, I contributed to research, data interpretation, and production workflows, developing graphics from concept through delivery both independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
How They Were Built
I redesigned a recurring postseason graphic showing how players arrived on each team, replacing traditional pie charts with nested bar charts to improve clarity and comparability.
The updated system scaled more effectively across web and social formats, and on MLB.com supported interactive exploration, allowing users to reveal additional player information on hover. I also developed a production process that made these graphics easy to update year after year.
Catch Probability Metric
Partnering with the Statcast team, I created data visualizations to communicate the development of advanced baseball metrics. This example highlights design explorations for an emerging stat, called catch probability.
Skyscraper Graphics
I designed vertical, scrollable graphics to present dense collections of statistics in a structured, narrative format. These visuals supported both standalone storytelling and integration within editorial articles.
Wild Card Horserace Daily Graphic
I designed a daily-updating visual system to track American League Wild Card standings for Cut4.
The system translated evolving data into consistent, repeatable graphics, culminating in an animated summary that visualized the full progression of the race over time.
